The following works are taken from Howard Skrill’s ongoing project, the Anna Pierrepont Series.
Howard wanders around New York City, rolling a Whole Foods cart jammed with art supplies, a Bristol pad, and folding chair, in order to make plein air pictures of public statuary (and occasionally their absence) with the intention of documenting these monuments as they exist in the present.
Issues of removals have, unfortunately, become central to this particular moment in history, and works in the Anna Pierrepont Series have been directly subject to iconoclastic attacks as a consequence. These attacks have been central to the most recent projects in the series.
